High Ridge - Wolves in Yellowstone by Daniel Smith

"High Ridge began with a cause and a story in mind: specifically, the restoration of wolves into Yellowstone National Park. It depicts two of the wolves released this past winter (1995) in the Lamar Valley. These wolves are known only to park biologists as '9' and '10'. The gray male '10' and the black female '9' were a bonded pair and miraculously produced a litter of eight wolf pups shortly after their release. Ironically, the birth of these pups coincided with the untimely death of the male. '10' was shot outside of the park near Red Lodge, Montana. This unfortunate event necessitated the capture and confinement of the mother and pups. Without the male or another pack member to assist in raising and feeding the pups, they surely would have died." - Daniel Smith.

Print released 1995.
A Conservation edition with a separate blind, debossed paw print taken from '10' before he was set free, was also released to benefit the Yellowstone Wolf Recovery Fund.
