"This painting is based on an actual incident that took place on a recent trip to Alaska. Two grizzlies had brought down a moose. One grizzly left the scene, and the other moved away from the kill to a hidden position. A lone wolf came onto the scene, presumably to try to steal from the kill. The grizzly then emerged from its hiding place to stand guard. This conflict continued off and on for two days. ...The wolf got as close as six feet from the grizzly, but the wolf never did take anything from the kill." - J. Seerey-Lester.
