It had been a four-day ride since he crossed the Snake River, following the creeks and tiny streams searching for the mountain meadows rich with willow and aspen favored by the beaver. His pack animals, laden with fur and beaver pelts still wet from recent trapping, indicated that the trapping had, indeed been good - so good that he was already looking forward to the great rendezvous at Pierre's Hole, even though it was still months away." - P.
