"We live on a charming small lake cupped at the base of surrounding mountains. Lily pads fringe the shoreline and the lake provides sanctuary to many species of birds from wood duck to Virginia rail. The ubiquitous mallard is a mainstay. We spotted this pair posing in this peaceful scene." - Robert Bateman.
