Forest Sentinel by Carl Brenders
"I got my inspiration for this painting from a photograph in an animal lovers' publication. In the photograph, a bobcat watched through a birch tree covered with lichen. The photograph gave me a kick because better scenery and positioning for a bobcat would have been difficult to imagine. "The photograph was special to me because it reminded me of a bobcat sighting I had on a dirt road in Colorado. I saw four young bobcats cross the road and pause a little on the other side. I wanted to see their mother, but she did not appear. The scenery on that road in Colorado - the birch and lichen- was exactly like the photograph." - Carl Brenders.
