Apsaalooke Foot Soldiers by Martin Grelle

Apsaalooke Foot Soldiers by Martin Grelle

Apsaalooke Foot Soldiers by Martin Grelle.

Grelle's paintings of Native Americans are coveted by his collectors. As the vast landscape unfolds, these scouts have forged ahead to protect their tribe. Perhaps they are searching for any enemies, a new camp site or food sources.  Apsaalooke means "children of the large-beaked bird," which was misinterpreted to mean Crow. Today, the majority of the Crow people live on the Crow Reservation in south central Montana; it is the largest of the seven reservations.
